Western Stock Show Association

Duran Excavating, Inc. (General Contractor) was awarded this project by the Western Stock Show Association. The start date was November 16, 1992 and it was completed April 12, 1992. The job consisted of mass excavation and site preparation for the new Event Center. The project involved mass excavation and haul off on 60,000 cubic yards of earth and site grading.

 

Denver Zoo Tropical Discovery Exhibit

Duran Excavating, Inc. was a Subcontractor for Pinkard Construction Company. The start date was September 30, 1991 and the project was completed August 6, 1992. This project consisted of earthwork, mass excavation, site utilities, storm sewer, water main and sanitary sewer. This project involved special coordination with the Denver Zoo Officials to allow for proper care of Animals and their habitat during reconstruction of the new water main system.

 

State Service Building

General Contractor, M.A. Mortenson commissioned Duran Excavating, Inc. to remove and over excavate three feet of existing surface and import new dirt in order to bring the project back to grade. The project included demolition of sidewalks and a parking lot. This project started November 12, 1991 and was completed august of 1992.

Lefthand Creek Channel

Duran Excavating, Inc. was commissioned as the General Contractor to excavate 159,000 CY of new channel, pipe work, landscape and irrigation for the City of Longmont Public Works Division. Duran Excavating, Inc. created a natural stream for the 4,500 ft of realigned channel which provided an overflow capacity for a 100-year storm event and established more than two acres of high quality replacement wetlands. Special thanks go to the Colorado Division of Wildlife, whose experience in this type of construction is unmatched. The city of Longmont received the Project of the Year Award in the Utility, Drainage, and Environmental category. It also won the national APWA award. This project was completed in August of 2002.

 

Sunnyslope

Duran Excavating acted as the General Contractor for the Sunnyslope residential subdivision area in the city of Broomfield. The project included complicated techniques of installation on a sanitary sewer main which ranged in depths of 25-30 feet. Improvements included an installation of 8,000 lf of sanitary sewer main, 8,000 lf of a water main and removal and replacement of 9,200 sy of asphalt. This project was in an existing residential area which created challenges of excavating the sanitary sewer and providing water service to residents during construction. Duran successfully worked in a congested area which allowed easy access to local residents.

 

St. Michaels

This project started December of 2004 and was completed in June of 2005. Duran Excavating, Inc. was the General Contractor for the City of Greeley. This project consists of installation of Non-Potable Water System including construction of Irrigation Pond with liner. Also constructed pump Station and Landscaping.

 

Loomiller

This project started May 3, 2004 and was finished August of 2005. Duran Excavating, Inc. was the General Contractor for the City of Longmont. This project consists of Installation of 48" RCP, 323 lf in existing residential and main roadway, including inlet and asphalt replacement. Also dredging of Loomiller Pond, including dewatering, rip rap, pedestrian bridge and the landscaping.

 

Denver Central Library

Duran Excavating, Inc. was commissioned by Hyman/Etkin Joint Venture to undertake a mass excavation project of more than 75.000 yards, including removal of 12,000 yards of contaminated soil 3-stories below the surface of the ground. Duran’s $800.000.00 contract also included loading and removal of the soils and installation of foundation drainage system. In order to avoid traffic congestion in the very busy Denver downtown area, Duran Excavating Inc. worked many nights to excavate, load and haul the mass soils to be exported.

 

20th Street Improvements

20th Street Widening project started in August of 2004. This project consists of widening 20th Street, from 65th Avenue to 71st Avenue. Removal of 2600 feet of existing 24' wide asphalt, construction of 4600 feet of curb and gutter. Construction of a 10' wide bikeway on each side of 20th Street. Installation of storm sewer system.

 

Greeley Airport Taxiways

Duran's third phase of the Greeley Weld County Airport included construction of two taxiways. General Contractor, Duran Excavating, Inc. constructed taxiways. In order to perform this work it was essential that we coordinated with air traffic control. Maintaining communication with the air traffic control and the ground controls is necessary to maintain safe work zones. The project involved shutting down existing taxiways and runways as required to construct new taxiways. DEI had to remove existing taxi ways, over-excavate unsuitable soils, install structural fill, road base, under drain system, electrical lighting, and asphalt paving. This $2,600,000 project was completed the summer of 2003.

 

Greeley Downtown Improvements 8th and 9th Street Plaza

As the General Contractor, Duran Excavating, Inc. renovated and reconstructed the 8th Street and 9th Street pedestrian malls to include new, one-way vehicular traffic constructed out of brick pavers and colored concrete along with pedestrian activity spaces. The project also includes a new pedestrian colored sidewalk with sand blasting to give an exposed aggregate effect in Lincoln Park beginning at the intersection of 8th Street and 9th Avenue extending to the intersection of 7th Street and 10th Avenue. This $1,657,300.00 contract was finished September 19, 2003.

 

Duran Trail

This project started June of 2005 and was completed in August of 2005. The project consists of installation of approximately 2,460 L.F. of 10 foot wide concrete bike/hike path and three corrugated steel pipes along the Poudre River. This portion of the land was donated by the Duran Family. The land was originally owned by Ernesto & Juanita Duran, and was left to their 6 children. This property has been in the family since the late 1930’s and originally farmed for vegetables, alfalfa and livestock.

Dacono Phase I Rehabilitation Water & Sanitary Sewer Line

Duran Excavating, Inc. (General Contractor) was awarded this project by the Town of Dacono. The start date was June 5, 2005. The project consists of removal & repaving approx 61,000 SY of existing asphalt street replacement, and 4,700 liner feet of combination curb, gutter and sidewalk. Waterline improvements include 8,200 linear feet of 8-inch & 6-inch C-900 waterline, valves, fire hydrants, 131 services & associated fittings. Sanitary sewer improvements included removal & replacement of 5,800 linear feet of 8-inch VCP with 8-inch SDR 35 PVC sanitary sewer lines, manholes, and reconnecting 110 existing services. This project included many challenges due to the confined areas in an existing residential area and tight alley ways all located in the Old Town part of the City of Dacono.

St. Vrain Campgrounds Phase I

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project from the Colorado State Parks High Plains Service Center. The date the project started was March 31, 2005 and the job was completed in March of 2006. The project consists of renovation of 41 campsite campgrounds including campground electrical, approximately 8,000 feet of water pipe, 2,000 feet of gravity sewer pipe, sewage lift station, 3,000 feet of forced sewer pipe and a 1,700 sq ft. Camper shower Building. Construction of a buffer zone and Roadway Improvements.

CSU Microbiology Building

 

St. Vrain State Park Phase IIA

Duran was awarded this project from Colorado State Parks. The work to be performed includes 6,450 tons of Class 6 roadbase placement on previously constructed roads, driveways, and shoulders, 46 campsites including high use pads, concrete vehicle pads, and concrete utility pads, day-use parking area construction, installation of ultrasonic flow meter at the existing sewer meter vault, and installation of secondary electric.

 

Chestnut Street Improvements & Waterline Replacement

The Town of Windsor contracted this project with Duran Excavating, Inc. The scope of this contract includes water system, roadway, and concrete improvements on Chestnut Street between 1st Street and 4th Street located within the Town of Windsor. The waterline portion of the project will consist of replacing approximately 1700 feet of 4” waterline with 8” PVC pipe, replacing 5 fire hydrants, and reconnecting 29 water services. The roadway portion of the project includes the reconstruction of the 100 and 300 blocks of Chestnut Street and the overlay of the entire project from 1st Street to 4th Street. This includes 6,906 square yards of 4” class 6 road base, 1011 cubic yards of asphaltic concrete (Grading S). The concrete portion of this project includes the removal and replacement of 15 handicap ramps and removal and replacement of approximately 700 feet of curb, gutter, and sidewalk. This project also includes the Town of Windsor Miscellaneous Concrete Rehabilitation Project. This project includes the rehabilitation of 20 feet of curb and gutter, 814 square feet of sidewalk, 42 feet of attached sidewalk with rollover curb and gutter and 7 pedestrian handicap ramps spread over 7 locations throughout Windsor.

 

Franklin Pond at 4th Street Drainage Improvements

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project from the City of Greeley. The project was started March 27, 2006. This project consists of construction of drainage from Franklin Park Detention Pond to 4th Street. Duran Excavating Inc was hired to construct 1,640 Liner feet of 38”x 60” horizontal elliptical (HE)/Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP). Install 3 pipe specials fabricated from 38” x 60” HE RCP. Install 129 feet of 54” RCP. Remove and re-install 94 feet of 24” RCP storm drain. Sawcut & remove asphalt paving , curb , gutter & sidewalk. Construct reinforced concrete pipe cradles to support 38”x 60” across a 27” water transmission main. Install segmental retaining wall and concrete trickle channel.p>

Fairgrounds Sewer

Duran was awarded this project from South Fort Collins Sanitation District. The start date was March 27, 2006. This project consists of installation of 8,400 lf of 30” PVC Sewer Main, 5,700 lf of 24” PVC Sewer Main, 60” & 72” Diameter Manholes, Erosion Control, Dewatering, and site restoration. This project consists of deep excavation cuts ranging from 15’ to 22’ in depth. Duran Excavating had to install well points in order to control ground water during construction.

Island Grove Multi-Use Field Conversion

Owner of this project is the City of Greeley. Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project in March of 2006. The start date was March 22, 2006. The project consists of Demolition of existing restrooms/press box building, removal of all existing light fixtures and their respective poles, excavation of existing sod/soils, removal of existing fence, removal of existing water taps and sewer taps, Installation of new sport lighting, new irrigation system. Construction of Restroom shelter pump house. soil/sod bed, trees, and installation of new 6’ high chain link fencing for the new Soccer Fields located at Island Grove.

Weld County Jail Phase III Expansion

Duran Excavating, Inc was awarded the Subcontract for the Weld County Jail Phase III from Roche Constructors, Inc. DEI’s work consists of earthwork and site utilities. The earthwork included site cut and fill export, structural excavation, structural backfill, fine grading, gravel under slab, and foundation drain system. Utilities included removing existing storm sewer system, installing new storm sewer pipe drainage from 18” to 48”, inlets, outlet structures, rip rap, fire line, domestic service, sanitary sewer, and roof drain system.

McKee Medical Center

Under the General Contractor (Hensel Phelps Construction Company) Duran Excavating, Inc will be in charge of the following. Site demolition of a metal building, removal of asphalt, curb & gutter and concrete slabs. Clear and grub trees, grass, and shrubs. Site cut and fill, fine grade, structural excavation and backfill, and gravel under slab. This project will be completed by the end of December 2006.

3rd Avenue & Gateway

Owner of this project is the City of Longmont Parks and Open Space Division. Duran Excavating Inc. is the General Contractor for this project. Description of work as follows: Erosion control, survey, demolition, site grading, drainage, crusher fine borders, concrete walks, irrigation, landscape, seeding, benches, and split rail fence.

West Entryway US 34 & US 34 Business Sign

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded the West Greeley Entryway project by the City of Greeley in 2006. The construction of the Entryway Sign is located at the South West quadrant of the US 34 by pass and US 34 business route. As Greeley is enhancing their image and experiencing westward growth this monument encompasses the City’s strength, class and prestige. The new Greeley Entryway Sign Structure includes cast in place concrete, reinforced masonry, wheatsandstone pattern tiles, red sandstone veneer, precast concrete caps, icon panel, 3” thick buff sandstone veneer, and 4” deep aluminum reverse pan channel sign letters, and bridge painting.

Kearney Street Realignment

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded the Kearney Street Realignment project by the City of Commerce City. The project includes removal of asphalt, curb and gutter, fence and relocation of fence. Also included is clear and grub site, earthwork, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water line. Construction of approximately 1,280 LF of new roadway. Including curb and cutter, inlets and asphalt.

New Academic Village

 

Duran Excavating, Inc. is the Subcontractor on this project. The General is The Whiting Turner Contractor. The project consists of the following: Site Demolition, Fine Grade, Detention Pond, Site Drainage, Bio Swales, Underdrains, Storm Sewer, Inlets, Relocating Waterline. This project will be completed by June 2007.

Waterline Evans

 

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by The City of Evans. The project started May 28, 2007. The job consists of installation of approximately 5,947 linear feet of new 12-inch PVC water line, 388 linear feet of new 8-inch PVC water line and 10 linear feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water line. Installation of both 8” and 12” gate valves. Installation of approximately 12 new exterior water service meters. Installation of four Pressure Reducing Valve (PVR) stations.

SH – 66 St Vrain Bridge

As the General Contractor Duran Excavating, Inc was awarded this project by Colorado Department of Transportation. The project consists of the following: Clear and Grub, Strip Stockpile Wetlands, Install Temporary Diversion Pipes, Erosion Control, Realignment of River, Rip Rap, Reinstall wetlands, fencing, seeding, landscaping, Reinstall 66’ of RCP and Traffic Control.

Sanitary Sewer Improvements

 

As the General Contractor Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the City of Greeley. This project will take place in two locations the 900 block of 12th and 13th. Avenue. Description of work consists of installing 8” PVC Sewer Main, Manholes, and Sewer Services. This work is located in existing roadways which also required Traffic Control and Asphalt Patching.

Nelson Road Improvements

The City of Longmont awarded Duran Excavating, Inc. this project as the General Contractor. This project started September 4, 2007. This project consists of Removal of asphalt pavement, Excavation, Embankment, Subgrade, prep Asphalt paving, Concrete flatwork, New storm sewer system 18”-42” RCP, Waterline installation, and Earthwork. The project is located along Nelson road which required difficult traffic control.

 

Adams Avenue Mead

The Town of Mead is the owner of this project and awarded it to Duran Excavating Inc. as the General Contractor. The start date was August 13, 2007. The job consists of Road Improvements, Grading, Asphalt, Storm Sewer, Inlets, and Constructing a Pond.

Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport – Schedule I and Schedule II

The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport is located at 11755 Airport Way in Broomfield Colorado. The Airport is between the cities of Denver and Boulder. As the General Contractor Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by CH2M Hill. This project consists of Relocation of Taxiway A, which consists of grading Safety Area Runway 11 L/29R. The project includes: Milling, Asphalt, Grading for taxiway, Cement treated sub grade, Geotextile fabric, Base course, Bituminous paving, Under drain, 48” Storm Sewer, Inlets, Electrical, and Seeding. Extreme measure had to be taken for safety and traffic control in order to keep the existing Airport in operation. This project had to be constructed in 4 different phases which required a very short construction schedule. Many overtime hours were required along with weekend work including Sunday.

Waterline Evans

 

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by The City of Evans. The project started May 28, 2007. Auburn Estates Conservation Development

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by Victory West Development. The development is a conservation development of 64.39 acres into 26 lots. This project was started May 22, 2007. Auburn Estates is located in Fort Collins. The job consists of Residential Infrastructure, 26 Home sites grading, curbs. Asphalt, Sanitary, Water, Storm, County Road Improvements, overlay, and Storm.

Fairbairn Mead

Reclaimed/Raw Water Interconnect Westminster

The City of Westminster awarded Duran Excavating, Inc. this project located in Westminster. The project provides for the construction of a pump station and 9,300 linear feet of reclaimed waterline ranging from 3” to 18” diameter and 600 linear feet of raw waterline 16” in diameter. The project also includes the construction of a 30’ long by 26’ wide by 14’ tall pump station building located at the City of Westminster’s Northwest Water Treatment Plant. The pump station design pumping capacity is 4,400 gpm. The pump station also includes a 20’ deep wet well for (2) 200 horse power vertical turbine pumps and motors. Due to the expansive clay soils the building foundation will be supported by drilled piers into bedrock. The pump station building will be constructed of CMU blocks with a brick veneer to match the architecture of the existing building on site. The project also includes the construction of approximately 2,583 linear feet of 18” diameter DIP reclaimed waterline; 610 linear feet of 16” diameter DIP raw waterline; 1,826 linear feet of 12” diameter reclaimed waterline, 478 linear feet of 8” diameter PVC reclaimed waterline; 333 linear feet of 4” diameter PVC reclaimed waterline; and realignment of approximately 155 linear feet of 8” potable waterline. This project also includes the construction of reclaimed waterlines using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) which includes 2,710 linear feet of 10” reclaimed waterline along 120th Avenue 167 linear feet of 6” HDPE conduit with 4” HDPE slipline beneath Wadsworth Blvd ., 305 linear feet of 6” HDPE conduit with 3” HDPE slipline. Peripheral pipeline construction includes an open trench crossing Walnut Creek. Walnut Creek crossing includes 80 linear feet of 30” steel casing and 18” DIP carrier pipe and maintenance of storm flows and restoration of creek bed and banks. Peripheral pipeline also includes jack and bore of 184 linear feet of 22” steel casing and 10” PVC carrier pipe beneath the Bradburn Blvd., Bridge along 120th Avenue. Additional work includes dewatering, surface flow management, erosion & dust control, and traffic control.

Southwood Village Outfall

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the Southeast Metro Stormwater Authority This project is located in The City of Centennial. The description of work consists of installing approximately 3,600 linear feet of 18” thru 30” reinforced concrete pipe and appurtenant manholes and inlets. Install approximately 143 linear feet of 30” jacked concrete pipe. This work is located in existing roadways which will also include traffic control, asphalt replacement, concrete flatwork replacement and outfall boulders.

Town of Johnstown Storm Sewer

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the Town of Johnstown. This project will be done in three phases, Phase I Approximately 799’ of 60” RCP, 1648’ of 48” RCP and 89’ of 18” RCP, bedding, construction staking, pavement removal and replacement, earthwork, concrete trickle channel, grading of existing ditch, reclamation and fabric reinforcing. The removal of an abandoned waterline, replacement of a culvert and construction of a baffles apron for an outlet into the Thompson River. Phase II. Approximately 717’ of 42” RCP, 58’ of 18” RCP bedding, construction staking, pavement removal and replacement and crossing through the railroad tracks at Charlotte Street. Phase III. Approximately 305’ of 42” RCP, 635’ of 36” RCP, 519’ of 24” RCP, and 190” of 18” RCP bedding construction staking, pavement removal and replacement, crossing through the Hillsboro Ditch, removal of headwall in the Hillsboro Ditch, and removal of two existing storm sewer manholes on Columbine Avenue.

State Highway 392 and County Rd 31 Improvements

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the Colorado Department of Transportation and called for improvements to be made to the intersection of State Highway 392 and County Road 31 in Northern Colorado. Work includes adding a turn lane, culvert replacement, earthwork, asphalt, striping and signing and traffic control.

Larimer County Landfill Phase 2

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by Larimer County. This project includes capping the trash at the Larimer County landfill with approximately 180,000 cubic yards of soil from the on site burrow area. This consists of three stages, the first is the clay infiltration layer, the second is the root and frost protection layer and the third is topsoil placement. The job also includes installation of storm piping, catch basins and outlay structures.

Stapleton Filing #28

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by Mortenson Construction. This project includes completion of infrastructure and parks improvements for the Stapleton Redevelopment Project. Work consists of installation of 658 feet of 8” sanitary sewer main and three manholes; 2,161 feet of 8” waterline, 3 fire hydrants and 800 feet of 6” dry utility sleeving.

13th Ave. Sanitary Sewer Replacement (Harlan to Carr Street)

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the City of Lakewood Department of Public Works. This project includes the removal of pipe, manhole structures, and asphalt materials. Work to be completed also includes earthwork and reconnection of sanitary sewer services. This project consists of replacing the existing 8” sewer system, including extensive traffic control, by-pass pumping of existing sewer, remove existing 8” pipe and manholes, installing 1,234 linear feet of 8” PVC, 6,011 linear feet of 18” and 21” PVC, manholes, services and asphalt paving.

9th. Ave. Storm Water Pump Station

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by the City of Greeley. The scope of work includes the installation of a new 40 HP submersible pump with discharge line, construction of a new 12’ diameter wet well, abandonment of an existing wet well and installation of a new water quality treatment vault at an existing storm drainage pump station at 9th Ave.

Colorado Science & Technology Park at Fitzsimons Campus

Duran Excavating, Inc. was awarded this project by GH Phipps. The scope of work includes the installation of 3,070 ft of 6”, 8”, 10” and 12” sanitary sewer and manholes, installation of 3,448 ft of 8” and 12” waterline and fire hydrants, installation of 3,779 ft of 18”,24”, 30”, 36”, 48” and 60”storm sewer pipe, manholes and inlets. Work also includes removal of 5,387 ft of existing sanitary, water and storm systems, manholes, and inlets. Work also includes asphalt patching and concrete patching.
